“Datadog Takes Flight: Acquiring Metaplane to Enhance Data Observability”
Cloud monitoring and security platform Datadog announced its acquisition of AI-powered data observability startup, Metaplane, in a move to expand its reach into the world of data observability. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, but Datadog stated that this acquisition will propel its growth in data observability and enhance its product offerings to customers.
Metaplane, founded by MIT graduate Kevin Hu and others, focuses on monitoring data using anomaly detection AI models to provide stakeholders with valuable insights. With a total funding of $22.2 million from investors like Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator, Metaplane has made a mark in the data analytics space. Now rebranded as “Metaplane by Datadog,” the startup will continue its mission of helping companies ensure trust in their data.
This acquisition marks Datadog’s second this year, following the acquisition of Quickwit in January. With the data observability market expected to grow significantly in the coming years, Datadog’s strategic move to enhance its observability products is timely. As the company strives to differentiate itself in a competitive landscape that includes players like Monte Carlo, Cribl, Manta, and more, Datadog is focusing on building robust data monitoring solutions to meet the evolving needs of businesses in the digital age.
