The indie-centric Day of the Devs is right around the corner. This is the segment of Summer Game Fest when smaller publishers take center stage. It’s usually an event worth watching, often overshadowing the main showcase. Mark your calendars for June 6.
What can we expect this year? Heart Machine’s 2D sidescroller Possessor(s) will make its debut. If you’re into hand-drawn visuals, horror themes, and visual novels, this title is for you. (And don’t forget about the “very hot” demons!)
Additionally, we’ll get to see more of Outersloth’s “nightmarish life sim” Neverway. The game’s premise is quite intriguing: “After leaving her uninspiring job, Fiona starts anew on a farm and becomes the immortal messenger of a dead deity.” (As one typically does!)
Untitled Goose Game creators House House are scheduled to present. This will likely include a closer look at Big Walk. The “cooperative online walker-talker” steps away from the cutthroat competition often found in online gaming. “What we love about online co-op games is when they provide enough guidance for the team to maintain good momentum,” the studio stated in 2023. “But it’s relaxed enough that you can mainly enjoy spending time with your friends.” Anticipate a laid-back experience filled with delightfully peculiar characters.
And that’s just a taste of what’s to come. Day of the Devs kicks off on June 6 at 7 PM ET. You can also catch it live on YouTube and Twitch. Engadget will also be on-site at Summer Games Fest delivering plenty of firsthand insights.
