Honda Takes the Crown: KBB’s 2026 Consumer Choice Awards Highlights
In the ever-evolving landscape of the automotive industry, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) has been a guiding light for car buyers for nearly a century. As a trusted source for valuing both new and used vehicles, KBB continues to shape consumer choices, offering annual insights into which automakers are favored by buyers. The much-anticipated KBB Consumer Choice Awards for 2026 have just been announced, and the results are nothing short of surprising.
Honda’s Stunning Victory
This year, Honda Motor Company outshone giants like Ford and Toyota, clinching the prestigious title of Best Overall Brand for the fifth year running. Their success doesn’t stop there; Honda also snagged awards for Most Trusted Brand, Best Value Brand, and accolades for Best In-Vehicle Experience, Best Performance, and Best Car Styling. A remarkable achievement, considering the awards are based on feedback from over 12,000 new vehicle shoppers who evaluated 14 key factors, including affordability, safety, reliability, and design.
A Closer Look at the Competition
While Honda dominated the general brand categories, it also excelled in the Best Overall EV/Hybrid category, thanks to the strong performances of its CR-V, Accord, and Civic models. However, not all avenues were fruitful, as Honda did not secure wins in every category.
On the luxury front, Lexus, a subsidiary of Toyota, performed exceptionally well, earning top honors in three out of six luxury categories, including Best Overall Luxury Brand and Most Trusted Luxury Brand. Mercedes-Benz also had a commendable showing, winning Best In-Vehicle Experience and Best Car Styling Luxury Brand. When it comes to power and speed, Porsche, part of the Volkswagen Group, triumphed with the title of Best Luxury Performance brand.
In an unexpected twist, the Best Overall Truck Brand award didn’t go to Ford, a brand usually synonymous with trucks. Instead, it was claimed by Ram, showcasing a shift in consumer preferences as tracked by KBB’s Brand Watch Study.
As the automotive landscape continues to shift, these awards serve as a reminder that consumer choices can be unpredictable and that brands must constantly evolve to meet expectations. With Honda leading the pack and other manufacturers stepping up their games, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for car enthusiasts and buyers alike.
