Experience Superior Sound: Unveiling the Sennheiser Momentum 5 Headphones
Launching June 16 at an Introductory Price of $400
After nearly four years since the launch of the Momentum 4 headphones, Sennheiser is stepping up its game with the arrival of the sleek Momentum 5 Wireless. While the new model maintains a familiar aesthetic, the real magic happens within, boasting significant enhancements in both audio performance and active noise cancellation (ANC). However, potential buyers should note that this upgraded edition comes with a $50 increase over its predecessor.
Fitted with the same 42mm drivers that wowed users in the Momentum 4, the Momentum 5 headphones are designed to deliver a rich listening experience characterized by deep bass and a robust sound profile inspired by Sennheiser’s celebrated HD 600 series. What sets the Momentum 5 apart is its Hi-Res Audio certification and integration with Snapdragon Sound, which enables Bluetooth codec support up to aptX Lossless. Additionally, the revamped Smart Control Plus app introduces an 8-band equalizer, along with customizable audio presets for a tailored auditory experience.
Sennheiser isn’t stopping there; a “day one update” is set to deliver Dolby Atmos support with head tracking for a more immersive listening experience, particularly when enjoying compatible films and music. For now, the headphones will support Dolby Atmos, albeit lacking the head tracking feature—yet this update promises to enhance your auditory journey significantly. Furthermore, while the Momentum 5 ships with Bluetooth 5.4, it has been designed with the upcoming Bluetooth 6.0 enhancements in mind, which will also roll out via firmware update.
To elevate the ANC capabilities, Sennheiser has equipped the Momentum 5 with double the microphones—now totaling four per ear cup. This upgrade is expected to markedly improve noise-cancellation effectiveness against everyday sounds, such as human voices. The additional mics also enhance voice clarity during calls, ensuring conversations sound more natural.
Battery life sees a slight reduction, with the Momentum 5 now offering around 57 hours with ANC activated—just three hours shy of its predecessor. However, the new model remains an endurance champion, plus it features a quick charge option that allows for three hours of use after just a five-minute charge. The 700mAh battery is user-replaceable, making upgrades straightforward with just a Phillips-head screwdriver.
The Momentum 5 Wireless headphones will hit the market on June 16, priced at $400, and come in an appealing array of colors: black, white, and blue. Get ready to indulge in an upgraded auditory experience that promises to be as enjoyable as it is sophisticated!
