Ultra-high performance memory modules are a staple of Computex, and this year, G.Skill is showcasing the highest performance dual-channel memory kit to date. The company is demonstrating a DDR5 kit with an impressive data transfer rate of 10,600 MT/s, significantly surpassing the speeds of current memory modules.
The featured dual-channel kit is a 32 GB Trident Z5 RGB set that incorporates cherry-picked DDR5 memory devices. It operates in DDR5-10600 mode with CL56 62-62-126 timings at voltages much higher than standard. Notably, the demoed DIMMs are running all day in a relatively warm room, although they are not subjected to demanding applications or stress tests.
Traditionally, memory module manufacturers like G.Skill utilize Intel processors to demonstrate their highest-performing kits. However, for the DDR5-10600 kit, the company uses AMD’s Ryzen 5 8500G processor. This processor is a monolithic Zen 4-based APU with integrated graphics, typically aimed at budget systems. The setup includes a high-end Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard and a custom liquid cooling system for the APU. The Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard, with only two memory slots, is an excellent choice for achieving high data transfer rates, making it a suitable match for the DDR5-10600 dual-channel kit.
Although it seems unlikely that anyone would pair an ultra-expensive DDR5-10600 memory kit with this budget-friendly processor, it is intriguing (and unexpected) to see an AMD APU being used to demonstrate the performance potential of G.Skill’s upcoming modules.
Regarding the availability of G.Skill’s DDR5-10600 memory, it seems that the kit won’t be available soon. Currently, the fastest DDR5 kit offered by G.Skill is the DDR5-8400. Thus, the DDR5-10600 will be introduced to the market after extensive testing with various CPUs to ensure its stability.
Additionally, it’s important to note that both AMD and Intel are set to release new desktop processors this year, specifically the Ryzen 9000-series and Arrow Lake processors, respectively. Therefore, G.Skill will undoubtedly prioritize tuning its DDR5-10600 and other high-end kits in conjunction with these new CPUs.
