The Harley-Davidson Softail frame stands out in the cruiser lineup for its unique design that mimics a hardtail at first glance, thanks to its hidden rear wheel suspension attached via a swingarm. Originating from the creative mind of Bill Davis, the Softail frame was introduced by Harley-Davidson in 1984 with the model FXST Softail. Over the years, the Softail has seen significant evolution, integrating new technologies and features to enhance rider comfort and performance. Early models, lacking rubber-mounted engines, transferred more vibration to the rider; this was later improved with the introduction of the rubber-mounted Twin Cam engine in subsequent Softail models.
